Who is Dickie Wilkinson?

Well in short I am an Artist and Designer who enjoys creating art that sometimes challenges, sometimes questions and sometimes just matches the decor. 

I particularly enjoy working with paint, print, paper and collage though I have also dabbled in textiles, fashion and jewllery

Much of my work somehow feels familar - this is not by accident, indeed nothing I do is by accident* and while my work is an organic creative process it is nonetheless carefully measured. 

At art school you are taught to explore and to experiment and that your first idea is not your best idea. While I agree that one should explore and push an idea to its limits I find the journey is really about gestation and working through an evacuative process to often eventually return to your initial idea.

I usually envisage a finished piece in great detail, being able describe the entire physcial and technical process. I attribute this to my Fashion background, one of my absolute favourite parts of clothing design is seeing the vision of a garment in ones head and then translating that into 2d pattern to be laid out on fabric which is then cut, sewn, pressed and tailored into a 3d form.
